Valentines Schmalentines

Valentine's Day is a fun holiday - I love that we have a day devoted to LOVE.  Don't matter if you have a "significant other" to make the day special.  In my opinion, it's a holiday for everyone.  We all have people we love and who love us :)

Thomas and I started the day off with sleeping in (one of our favorite activities haha), and then took a little drive (Layton) to "Adam's Canyon."  This hike was our second date (back in 2010).  Ater hiking, we worked ourselves up an appetite and did dinner with friends at Magleby's "sweethearts buffet."

Valentine's is not complete without heart cookie cut-outs and chocolate (See's to be exact)!

Crazy how different the weather was!

They seriously have the most delectable food!

A most fantastic day indeed

A Last Minute Roadtrip

Our Vegas/Disneyland road trip was short but wonderful.  Vegas is only about a 4 hr drive from here, and then Anaheim is another 4 from Vegas, so it really does make the ideal little road trip!

Vegas: mainly ate good food (including gelato!) and went to the wax museum (Madam Tssuads).  It was closed last time we went (the electricity went out of all things), so we were happy it was open this time!

Valley of Fire: right outside of Vegas lies this neat state park - reminded me quite a bit of Moab, UT (but Moab is cooler).

Disneyland: had so much fun in the short 2.5 days we were there!  We were also there for literally the last few days of the Christmas decorations/parade/fireworks.

Christmastime

This month has been busy busy busy at work (a lot of overtime) as we had tons of Christmas parties and events, which was very different for my last job as winter was our down season.  We didn't get out to doing many things in the area, but here are some fun pics:

Christmas Lights at the Riverwoods

Christmas Baking!

Fudge, Toffee, No-Bakes, Sugar Cookies, and Divinity!
These made great goodie bags for neighbors and friends :)

Christmas!

We woke up to a beautiful white wonderland outside.  My first white Christmas!  I was ecstatic - I love the snow and this was really our first big snowfall this winter.

Pull Aparts!

It was a simple Christmas this year as we stayed in Utah.  After some major sleeping in, we watched Christmas movies and ate good food (Thomas made a steak dinner)

The snow called for an afternoon walk!  It felt like we had the town to ourselves as we strolled through.  I love snow walks - I feel like I'm in a snow globe with the gentle falling snow.

Festival of Trees

We went to the Festival of Trees last year and absolutely loved it so of course we had to go this year!  It's a charity event and all the proceeds go to a local children's hospital.  The trees are donated by various individuals/companies and are then auctioned (we're talking thousands of dollars).  It so fun to see all the different themed trees!

There is also a gingerbread house display (these are auctioned as well)

This may be hard to see, but this one was Frozen themed and it was huge!
