Wrapping Up 2015

I've been MIA lately because life has been BUSY (but aren't we all busy these days?!).

This will likely be the last post on this blog, at least for a while, since now we're back in the PNW (the biggest reason I started this blog was to keep in better touch with family on what we were up to!).

Here's to wrap up the last few months of 2015:

Bryce Canyon / Slot Canyons of Escalante (Peekaboo and Spooky)
We did an amazing hike in Bryce (known as the figure 8 loop, which takes you through the highlights of the park).  It was one of my favorite days of 2015.  The weather was so perfect.  The company was perfect. And this was part of our anniversary weekend, which also made it a little more meaningful.

While we were in the area, we also visited some slot canyons. Seriously amazing.  I can't believe we waited to discover these awesome slot canyons until our last year in Utah.  I would go back in a heartbeat!  Utah has the most unique landscape, and I've fallen in love with the slot canyons!

The Grand Canyon - Rim to Rim Hike / Antelope Canyon / Horseshoe Bend
We started at the South Rim, hiked down into the bottom of the canyon, and surfaced at the South Rim.  It was a crazy last minute adventure.  I was able to get reservations just a couple weeks out!  Normally these sites are booked out a year in advance, but we got lucky with having someone else cancel their reservation.  We left Friday after I got off work, started the hike Saturday morning (14 miles), finished Sunday afternoon (10 miles), and I was back to work on Monday!  It was a crazy weekend, but an awesome experience, and has been on my bucket list since 2011!

While in the area, we also visited Antelope Canyon (the shapes and colors are incredible), and Horseshoe Bend.

Zion - The Narrows
Another amazing hike! 16 miles of hiking through riverbed/water, and high canyon walls.  Stacy was a most excellent guide. We were also able to get last minute reservations to do this hike.

Havasupai Falls
Havasupai has been on my bucket list since I started college (back in 2009!).  It was so cool to actually make this place become a reality.  It wasn't the most ideal circumstances (I was sick, we got little sleep because of sleeping in the car the night before, and I hadn't worn a big pack in a while so I struggled), but it was worth it.  We BARELY snagged a reservation for this one too.  I probably annoyed the heck out of the reservation people because I called nearly every day hoping for a cancellation! The water was unbelievable blue - it really did look paradisiacal!

Timpanogos
2nd time hiking up to the top! Pretty spectacular.  The first time I hiked this was with Thomas, in the spring time.  This time it was the fall - the colors were beautiful.

Iceland
Talk about a trip of a lifetime.  Iceland. was. incredible.  The most striking place I've ever been, and arguable my favorite country traveled to.  Each day outdid the last.  There is something to be said for nature, and the remote and rugged landscape of it.  It was 7 days of amazing.  Below is an image of where we drove.  Would love to go back during the summer (yes, I'm already talking about going back) and do the entire drive around the country (the "Ring Road") and explore some of the northern areas.

That about wraps it up for the rest of our 2015 fall adventures!  We did A LOT in 2015.  Especially the last 6 months of it.  We had places to see before we moved back to WA! Thomas was such a good sport in all my adventurous plans.

Now for more exciting news......Drumroll........

THOMAS GRADUATED COLLEGE.  I repeat: Thomas graduated college!!!

Hoooooray!

Yipeeeeee!

With all our adventures, his BFA, and moving, it was a crazy busy last semester for him.  Somehow he got it all done though.  His BFA show went really well!  Thank you to everyone that came and supported him.

So proud of him!

Now we're all moved back to Washington!  Our weekends are filled with hanging out with the fam, and adventuring around the area.  It's so good to be back.
