Whirlwind

My goodness.  A lot has happened in the last couple months! To summarize:

-I lost my job mid July (company went bankrupt and I got pretty screwed over in the process).  I'm still pissed about it and how they handled the situation so I try not and think about it.  You've gotta learn where to put your energy and I sure ain't wasting it on that company!
*On the bright side, I did end with my last event in Seattle and got to spend time with family (and had my 25th birthday in the process), so that was nice.  I've been really lucky to have traveled home so frequently. Seattle and family are the best!

The gorgeous cake my mom made for my quarter of a century celebration!

-Sisters Cathy and Jen (and families) came to visit in July and August- so fun!  We did Timpanogas Caves with Cathy and kids, and hung out with Jen and the family in Salt Lake (and of course took them to the Pie to delight in their amazing cheesy bread and pizza).

Doesn't Thomas look happy...

Sisters! I get told I look most like Jen (I hope that means I also get her youthful "10 years younger" look!)

-We hiked Mt. Timpanogas! This has been on our Utah list for a while.  We first attempted it in the fall, but had to turn back due to bad luck of it being the first snowfall of the year! We were so close too - made it up to Emerald Lake.  We have made other attempts as well only to find the forecast scheduled for lightning, so we've kept rescheduling.  So glad we did it in early August - it was beautiful and there were so many wildflowers and goats!

-We went to Cambodia! So much fun - we felt like true Indiana Jones explorers!  Many times we had the entire temples to ourselves.  It was seriously rad.  And we already want to go back!

-And the latest - I got a job (finally!).  After seriously submitting nearly 100 applications, I scored an amazing job at Magleby's Restaurant, where I will be working as the day manager and helping coordinate and schedule catering for their events (as well as attending them!).  I'm excited to learn the ropes (and to finally be off of unemployment!)

Fun in the Sun

The last couple months have been busy busy busy.  Mainly work stuff.  Charlotte, Richmond, and Pittsburgh 5K Foam Fests are DONE.  3 down, 5 to go!

I found this Jones cap rather appropriate for how I felt right after my last event:

Other then work, we ran the Dirty Dash (again):

Hiked to to the top of that peak (Squaw Peak):

View of Provo and the lake from the top:

 Thomas thinks he's Gandalf.

(when we first hiked it together while dating back in 2010)

May The Fourth Be With You

Did you know that May 4th was Star Wars Day?

We celebrated with Star Wars Legos

And Star Wars games (Guess Who & R2-D2 Trouble)

And of course watched one of the movies

And ate popcorn in the coolest popcorn container there ever was.

 Made "Imperial No-bakes"

Vader would have been proud.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

April was a busy, but fun month for us.  I always think pictures do the best explaining:

Road Tripping to Oregon

The beard is getting quite long

Can't beat the Pacific Northwest - miss it so much!

The whole reason for our trip - so glad we made the drive and were able to be there for Tami's special day :)

She sent us home with an early Easter basket full of goodies :)

Salt Lake City Comic Con/FanX

You know you are at something truly nerdy (and awesome) when you find Star Wars molded chocolates.

 We got to meet R2!

Thomas was in HEAVEN.

It was a pretty interesting to attend and Thomas is looking into selling his art there in September for the "official Comic Con."

Easter

I got chocolate.                                                                                      He got Legos.

It's not Easter without these little nests!

Picnic at the park

Mom's in Town

Mom made her way into Provo the end of April - we did a lot of fun things together and most of all enjoyed each other's company :)

I made strawberry scones one morning for breakfast for the special occasion.
Love cute little Sky in the background

Utah recently got Rita's so of course we had to go!!

Animals just love Thomas.  Must be the beard - they probably think he's already half dog! :)

Mom showed me how to make her delicious Chicken Flataus.  So easy and so delicious! We had them a lot growing up but I'd never made them before.

We enjoyed going to the "Sacred Gifts" exhibit, which featured art of Carl Bloch, Heinrich Hofmann and Frans Schwartz.

It was our lucky day! We got to see the most darling ducklings crossing the road!
This was just too cute not to share.

Enjoying falafel, spinach lentil soup, grape leaves and halva at O'Falafel  in SLC on Mom's Birthday

Temple Square is just lovely in the springtime! My favorite time there!
